How We Can Help!
Watching out for our own!
Firefighters and EMS personnel routinely witness horrific events that ordinary people don’t. These experiences can lead to mental health issues, including PTSD and depression—even suicide. We are here to help our first responders recognize behavioral health problems and take action before they put themselves and those around them at risk. It is important to know ways to recognize emerging or existing mental health issues to help keep our fellow first responders safe. We regularly reach out to our fellow members after serious incidents to do buddy checks. This is a great opportunity to discuss privately with one of your team members. Reconize that having difficulty digesting some calls is something we all go through from time to time, this is completely normal and very human, every now and again we just need an extra hand.
